Hello, and welcome to another update! Today (August 5th) marks the four-year anniversary of Fatal Factions! Before we get into other updates, I just wanted to thank everyone that has followed Fatal Factions the past few years. Without your inputs and support, Fatal Factions wouldn't be in the grand state that it's currently in!
Fatal Factions is now a giant project of its own, composed of 5 games, 1 tabletop system, and 3,231 cards! Guild Wars by itself has 2,435 cards spanning tutorial, monster, story and normal play modes, truly representing its "Play how you want" moniker. Whether you want to play an arena battler, roguelite deckbuilder or a good ol' unit battler, Fatal Factions has what you want thanks to all the work put in by all if its testers. A big thanks to all of you!
Even though I am taking a break to play some games and fully gather what I might want to update for the Fatal Factions universe, I have still been playing some games of Guild Wars with my morning coffee, which inevitably leads to some updates. On top of many small buffs
to quite a few cards, the Fatereaver mechanic has had some decent buffs to almost every card in the mechanic. To help increase the ease-of-use for Guild Wars, I had also removed the Rewind mechanic (which originally required players to remember the state their cards and life points were a round or two ago) into:
Chrociclar - Once per turn, you can reveal a card from your hand and shuffle it into your deck. When you shuffle a card this way or when another player's card leaves the field, you can play a card with the same card type for 1 less than its RC cost.
This mechanic specializes in getting cards out of your hand to get into Card Heat and getting cards onto the field. Chroniclar is also paired with Chronicles - altars that perform abilities in succession as shown below.
Chroniclar gives some good options for mechanics that work well with churning out low-cost cards as well as card draw (like Fatefind, Study or Prophesize) as well as giving some options for altar lovers or active ability users like Sacred or Exploiter. It's live in TTS, so feel free to try it for yourself!
As I continue to play the game and balance things out, I am doing my best effort to make sure each mechanic is not too isolated. Most mechanics do a great job of being able to pair with at least 3 other mechanics optimally (and many more if you are building for coverage instead of synchronicity), but one mechanic has stood out like a sore thumb - Psionus's Levitating. I will most likely replace this mechanic and possibly 1 or 2 more in the coming months as I playtest each and every mechanic in Guild Wars. Please look forward to some great updates to the game!
Again, thank you everyone for supporting Fatal Factions. I'll see you at the next update!
