Fatal Factions: March 2024 Updates

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another monthly update! This time, we have quite a few changes that are going to be going live right now!

First, let's begin with our updates. The project currently named Fatal Factions: Evolution has been frozen for a little while, but for a very good reason - We have been working with the same artist that made the frames and guild symbols throughout all of Fatal Factions to create new frames specific to the game. Soon, we will be getting frames that fit the sci-fantasy setting for this special Fatal Factions game. Once we get the frames, we can finalize our card layout and start churning out some fighters and abilities for you to experience!

When it comes to Fatal Factions: Guild Wars, we've had a few players as well as indie developers checking out the game and giving a few comments. There won't be any significant changes to the game itself, but the Soulis guild has been added to the roster of custom guild cards. We have also spent some time with Sir Jake to try to finish up the orc guild, Ghorza's Resolve!

We also added some more cards into the main 1v1 version of the game, as well as a prettier reminder card to tell you each of the turn phases. You can check out the Ragefist and the changes to the board right now on Tabletop Simulator!

Since we've been in a state of waiting quite a bit this past month (and had been busy acting as a judge on several games for the Homemade TCG community's game jam), I did start another project that I am currently calling Fatal Factions: Journeys (Jesus, another Fatal Factions game?!). It currently plays a bit closer to Etrian Odyssey games with a bit of Fatal Factions: Tempo mixed in. In this game, you select a number of adventurers and pit them against monsters while going through a dungeon. I added some village creation mechanics as well as crafting to make it unique from the source material. It has taken a large amount of programming to automate some of the monsters, but so far it plays pretty good!

I will admit that it's tough to put in all the mechanics like status effects and damage reduction because of the automation relying completely on dice roll randomization, so there is a small chance this may turn into more of a Fatal Factions: Tempo 2 where there's one or two adventurers against fewer monsters so you'll be able to track things better. Either way, the development abilities I gained from this experience will benefit you sooner or later! Stay tuned for more information about the Evolution and Journeys projects.

Now, I know that news about future projects are all nice and dandy, but surely you want to see some changes that are happening now? Well, I had just created two quizzes that everyone can check out now - One that asks personal questions to dictate what guild your personality will fit into, and another that dictates which guild you may love the most based on your playstyle. Try them both out and see where you end up!

One final note. As you may have noticed, the forum part of this website has been completely removed as of a few months ago. There are a few communities that feed into Fatal Factions, but there are some changes that may make it a little harder to access Fatal Factions discussions. To remedy this, we will very soon be creating a discord channel where you can set up some battles, dig into your guilds and share your love for the Fatal Factions games! You'll be able to talk to guild creators, old champions and the creator as well! Please keep an eye out for updates to the website.

That will wrap up this month's updates for the game. Until then, take care!
